EastonSwing Ltd – West Coast Swing Classes, Workshops & Events

What to expect at a WSDC event

West Coast Swing events take place all around the world, and once you catch the bug, you’ll want to experience them all. But attending your first event can feel a little overwhelming. To help you get ready, here’s a breakdown of what you can expect at an EastonSwing event.

Whilst each individual event will create a unique experience, most events will follow a similar structure.

Expert Teaching

Events bring in top teachers from around the world — the ones you’re used to watching online. It’s your chance to learn from the best as they lead a series of classes throughout the weekend.

Dancers are grouped by level, with each level following its own class rota. Levels are based on competition points or a short audition. No matter where you’re placed, you’ll learn from every teacher and walk away with tons of development.

You can read more about levels here.

Competitions

You’ve probably seen it on social media. A random leader, paired with a random follower, dancing to a randomly selected song. That’s Jack & Jill, the ultimate showcase of improvisation and connection in West Coast Swing. Competitions are a big part of WCS events and a highlight for many dancers. Most events offer a range of divisions, but you’ll almost always find Newcomer, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced/All Star Jack & Jill comps

When you compete, you earn points, and as you collect points, you move up through the WCS levels. It’s fun, challenging, and an amazing way to grow as a dancer.

Pro shows

We don’t bring in top pros just to teach, we bring them in to perform, too. Get a front-row seat to their talent as they showcase their skills with their chosen partner and also demonstrate their jack and jill credentials as we pair them with other pros on the spot. It’s inspiring, unpredictable, and always a highlight of the weekend.

Social dancing

Picture packed dance floors, buzzing with energy and dancers from all over the world. You’ll feel the subtle styles from different regions and maybe even find yourself dancing with someone who just lit up the competition floor. The music keeps going late into the night, and if you’re up for it, right through to breakfast.
